This year brings us interesting innovations in web design that will help us to improve the user experience and to enhance, above all, the customization of websites or online stores.

Keep in mind that, today, there are about 2 billion websites in the world, and the goal to always keep in mind when starting a web project is to stand out from the crowd.

Below, we present the trends in web design:

Bright and saturated colors

This year the trend is to use bright and saturated colors that are imposed on the pastel colors that many websites have used in recent years. It is important to know that color is a very important factor when it comes to design and is related to psychology, so we must think very carefully about the color chosen for our website.

The content

When we talk about content, we refer to personalized content, especially in online stores. A clear example is when an online store remembers the searches and orders that have been made in previous visits and this serves to then offer content tailored to the interests of the user. They do this both to achieve a better user experience but also to increase the conversion rate.

Artificial intelligence

When we talk about artificial intelligence in web design, we mean using, for example, a chatbot that allows simulating the conversation with a person, giving automated answers to their questions. In addition, using a chatbot will also help us to improve the user experience.
So, although a good idea is to use artificial intelligence, we must not lose sight of the personal touch of our website.

Microinteractions

How can we give that personal touch to our website? Through micro-interactions. These are small animations that guide the user through a specific action. For example, an alert that notifies you of the latest video uploaded on youtube by your favorite YouTuber and allows you to click to watch it immediately.

Color gradients

Gradients are effects obtained by combining several avant-garde-looking colors on the web.

An example can be seen in Spotify, which recovered the trend of combining images with monochrome gradients or duotones and made it the hallmark.

A peculiarity is that gradients are not used in large areas or in the background, but rather are applied to secondary elements of the composition or interface elements that stand out from the screen.

3D images

One technique for simulating 3D images is parallax, whereby the background moves at a different speed than the content. The result is a slight depth effect, letting you see parts of the website that you could not see before.

In the end, we will get an effect that, simulating depth, attracts attention and breaks the flat space of the screens.

Minimalism

This concept should always be applied in all our web design projects. The fact of designing a clean environment with few elements, carefully selected, helps the user experience to focus on what really matters for the user to perform the actions we are looking for.

Although, we should not confuse a minimalist design with a simple design.

Simplified navigation

Simplified navigation is closely related to minimalism, i.e., the easier it is to get to what our users are looking for, the more likely it is that those users will buy.

Large images and text

Large images on websites are all the rage. If we use them in our web projects we will be able to focus the user’s attention and capture their attention, creating persuasive and seductive experiences.

This type of design is characterized by very large and bold titles or abbreviated messages.

Accessibility

The latest trend is accessibility. We must keep in mind that Google robots read a website just like the program that describes the web to blind people.

Our goal as designers is to make web pages usable by the maximum number of people, regardless of their knowledge or personal abilities and regardless of the technical characteristics of the equipment used to access the Web.

People with disabilities are also potential users or customers of our website, so if we do not take them into account, we will be losing good business opportunities.

In short, if a web page is accessible, Google will understand it better and, therefore, will be able to position it better.

We hope that these trends in web design in 2022 are here to stay as they help us to improve the usability and user experience of our web projects.
